Fake an Egg Money Guide: Fast Cash and Rebirth Order
How to make cash fast in Fake an Egg: pen upgrades, food bonuses, steal economics, rebirth multipliers and a 30-minute routine that actually compounds.
Fake an Egg has four income streams, and new players usually use the slowest one. Hatching eggs is steady. Stealing pets is spiky. Selling duplicates and claiming Index rewards is free money most people forget. Disguise sales are pocket change but cost nothing.
The route below puts them in the order that compounds fastest, with the actual numbers where we could verify them.

Where cash actually comes from
| Source | Speed | Risk | When to use it |
|---|---|---|---|
| Pets in your pen | Passive, every second | Low | Always; this is your base |
| Stealing pets | One large jump | Medium to high | Whenever a pen is exposed |
| Selling spare pets | Instant lump sum | Low | When the pen is full |
| Index rewards | One-off chunks | None | As soon as an entry completes |
| Disguise sales | Small, repeatable | Low | While waiting for a good pen |
A player with a full pen and no steals grows in a straight line. A player who steals one good pet a session grows in steps. You want both: the pen pays for upgrades, the steal pays for the next tier.
The first 30 minutes, economically
- Hatch the free Bunny. It earns about $3-4 per second, which is slow but non-zero.
- Claim the free Shark. Like the game and join the group, then interact with the cage. This is the biggest free income jump in the game.
- Buy Cat and Dog Eggs. At $47 and $96 they pay for themselves quickly and fill slots.
- Buy Carrot food. $2,000 for a 50% bonus on every pet in the pen. With four pets, it pays back faster than another cheap egg.
- Buy one pen slot. Stop selling a pet every time a new egg hatches.
Do not save for a $15,000 Wolf Egg in this phase. A full pen of $50 pets with food beats an empty pen with one expensive egg timer running.
The multiplier stack
Fake an Egg stacks several bonuses on the same pet. Understanding the stack is the difference between "I have good pets" and "I have good income".
| Bonus | Effect | How to get it |
|---|---|---|
| Feeder | +50% cash while full | Carrot ($2,000) or Apple (rebirth 2) |
| Mutation | Raises cash output, multiplier unpublished | Hatch a Gold, Diamond or Rainbow pet |
| Trait | x2 to x7 depending on weather | Weather events; some can be triggered with Robux |
| Rebirth | Permanent cash multiplier | Rebirth circle |
| Gamepass | x2 Cash, extra slots, faster hatch | Robux shop |
Not every bonus applies at once. A pet with a Rainbow mutation and an Eclipse trait during a full feeder is worth far more than the same pet alone, which is why owners time their rebirthing around weather.
Food is usually the best early purchase
The feeder gives 50% to every pet in the pen. If your pen earns $100 per second, a full feeder turns that into $150 per second for a one-time $2,000 cost. That pays back in 40 seconds of boosted income.
Compare that to a $2,000 egg that hatches one pet worth maybe $10 per second. Food wins almost every time until your pen is full of high-income pets.
Keep the bar topped up. A feeder that runs dry silently removes the bonus, and most players never notice until their cash graph flattens.
When stealing beats hatching
Use this rule: if the pet you can steal earns more than the egg you can afford, steal.
At the Crocodile stage, the next permanent egg is T-Rex at $7.2 million. If your pen earns $2,000 per second, that is an hour of perfect play with no spending. One successful steal of a mid-tier Legendary can shortcut most of that hour.
Steal only when three things are true:
- You know the exit route.
- The owner is not between you and the pet.
- You can afford to lose the trip.
If any of those is false, stay in your pen and keep hatching. A failed steal costs time; a bad steal costs time and teaches you nothing.
Selling without gutting your income
The sell shop is not a dump. Sort your pets by income and sell the bottom of the list, not the oldest.
Keep:
- Your highest earner.
- One mutated version of it.
- Anything that completes an Index entry.
Sell:
- Plain duplicates below your current weakest pet.
- Pets you stole that are worse than what you already own.
- Event pets after the event ends, if you do not collect them.
Fusion is the third option. Three duplicates into the Fuse Machine can produce a pet above your current tier, but check the maths first: three earners are only worth fusing if the result beats their combined income.
Rebirth: what resets and what does not
Rebirth resets your cash. It keeps your pets, your Index progress and your permanent upgrades.
The requirement and reward numbers changed during the first weeks, and community guides disagree:
| Community snapshot | Requirement | Rewards |
|---|---|---|
| Early guide (October 19) | Bunny Egg + $750 | x1.5 cash, x1.05 hatch speed, Uncommon food, unlocks feeder |
| Later guide (October 26) | Chicken Egg + $3,000 | x2 cash, x1.1 hatch speed, Apple food |
Both may have been correct on their date. Check the live counter on your screen before saving; the game is three weeks old and still being tuned.
Strategy does not change with the numbers: spend spare cash on permanent things before you rebirth. Slots and food survive. Cash does not.
Robux gamepasses
The game currently lists these passes. Prices are not shown in the public API, so check the shop in-game:
- +1 Pet Slot (three tiers)
- Scan Jam (three tiers)
- x2 Hatch Speed
- x2 Cash
x2 Cash is the one that compounds with everything else. Extra pet slots are the convenience buy. Scan Jam is for players who hunt disguised thieves; it does not earn cash directly.
A 30-minute routine that works
| Minutes | Action |
|---|---|
| 0-5 | Collect cash, refill feeder, sell the bottom two pets |
| 5-10 | Buy and start the best egg you can afford twice |
| 10-20 | One steal run: scout three pens, enter the safest |
| 20-25 | Sell or fuse the spare, check Index rewards |
| 25-30 | Upgrade one slot or buy food for the next session |
The important part is the order. Selling before buying keeps a slot free. Stealing before upgrading means you know how much cash you actually have. Upgrading last means you do not spend the steal profit on something you did not need.
Milestones and what to buy at each
| Milestone | First purchase | Second purchase |
|---|---|---|
| $1,000 | Carrot food | Goat or Llama Egg |
| $10,000 | One pen slot | Capybara or Wolf Egg |
| $100,000 | Two pen slots | Badger or Crocodile Egg |
| $1,000,000 | Food stock | Keep stealing toward Legendary |
| $7,000,000 | T-Rex Egg | Spinosaurus Egg |
| $20,000,000+ | Griffin Egg | Rebirth when spare cash is spent |
FAQ
What is the fastest way to make money in Fake an Egg? Steal one high-income pet, then let it earn while you keep hatching. Pure hatching is slower but safer.
Does rebirth reset pets? No. It resets cash only. Pets, Index progress and permanent upgrades stay.
Is food worth it? Yes, especially early. A full feeder gives +50% to every pet for a one-time cost.
Do I need Robux to progress? No. The gamepasses speed things up, but every pet in the permanent egg list can be bought with in-game cash.
Why did my income drop? Check the feeder first, then whether a weather trait expired, then whether you sold a pet by accident. Those cover most cases.
How much cash should I keep before rebirthing? Enough for food and one slot after the reset. Everything above that should go into permanent upgrades first.
For the exact egg costs, see the eggs list. For which pets are worth keeping, use the values table. For the steal route itself, read the map guide.
