Tame An Animal Maps and Mounts: Ships, Wings and Routes

The official description promises you will explore the world with ships and mounts. That single line is the best map design document the developer has published: it tells you the world is split into a walking layer, a water layer and a vertical layer, and that each one has its own vehicle.

The catch is that no map has been published either. There is no labelled image, no zone list, no fast-travel diagram. So this guide does the next best thing — it explains how the three layers usually gate each other, what the official art confirms about terrain, and a route order you can check in one session.

The three travel layers

Every Roblox exploration game gates distance the same way, and Tame An Animal's store confirms it is doing something similar.

Layer How you cross it What gates you Store signal
Ground Walking, climbing, jumping Nothing — this is the tutorial layer None needed
Water Ships and boats Owning a ship, and knowing where the dock is The description names ships explicitly
Vertical Mounts, gliding, teleports A mount, or a paid shortcut Teleport and Pegasus both exist as passes

The Teleport pass is the tell. If walking were cheap, nobody would buy a teleport. Treat the map as large and plan routes instead of wandering.

What the art confirms about the terrain

The main thumbnail is set on a cracked lava causeway, with floating stone pillars behind it and a purple sky. Three details are worth mapping:

  • Broken ground. The floor is fractured, not flat. Expect gaps and jumps before you expect open fields.
  • Floating platforms. Pillars hang in the air behind the play area, which usually means a jumping or gliding route to a higher zone.
  • Lava as a boundary. Lava is normally a hard wall in Roblox games — a surface that damages or kills rather than a decoration. If the causeway is surrounded by it, the path forward is the causeway itself.

That reads as a mid-game zone, not a spawn zone. A new player's first area is usually grass or sand with weak animals, and the lava causeway is where the taming beam in the art actually happens.

The unlock order that wastes least time

Do not explore by direction. Explore by gate.

  1. Clear the spawn ring. Walk the full circle around the starting area before you leave it. Spawn zones usually contain the three or four animals you need for your first team.
  2. Follow the coastline. The shoreline is where the dock sits. Finding the dock early means you know where the water layer starts, even before you can use it.
  3. Take the first inland path. Usually a canyon, cave or bridge that leads to the second spawn zone. This is where animal levels step up.
  4. Find the dungeon entrance. Do it before you buy a mount. Knowing where the dungeon is changes what you spend on.
  5. Unlock water last, not first. A ship without a full team is a fast way to reach content you cannot fight.

If you can reach a zone but cannot survive a fight there, you have found the edge of your progression. Mark it and come back.

Ships: what to expect and how to use them

The developer names ships in the description, which means at least one reward or region is across water. Three practical rules:

Dock before you sail. Ships in Roblox games usually spawn at fixed docks. Walking to a random beach and hoping for a boat wastes more time than finding the dock once.

Sail with a destination. Water zones are big and empty by design. If you cannot see land, you are probably not meant to be there yet.

Return before you log off. Some games despawn or strand your ship. If you log out at sea, you may come back swimming.

Ships are also the most likely place to meet other players in a 12-player server. That is useful: a group sailing to the same island is a group you can tame with.

Mounts: the third gate

Mounts are the vertical layer. In practice that means cliffs, tall pillars, and any zone the developer wants to keep behind a longer unlock.

The one named mount, Pegasus, was sold as a pass and is currently off sale. That matters for planning: if Pegasus is the only flying mount, players who missed it are locked to whatever earnable mounts exist. We could not verify an earnable mount list, so treat this as an open question and check the in-game mount menu before you spend anything.

Two habits make mounts worth owning:

  • Use them for scouting, not combat. A mount that carries you across a zone is a map tool. Dismount before a fight unless the game says otherwise.
  • Learn the dismount height. Falling damage, if it exists, is the most common way a mount kills its owner.

Build your own map

A labelled map does not exist, so make a crude one. Six lines in a note is enough:

Note Why it matters
Zone name or landmark So you can describe it to another player
Animals seen there Ties the zone to your bestiary
Travel time from spawn Tells you whether a trip is worth it
Gate (walk / ship / mount) Tells you what is still locked
Dungeon or NPC present Marks the interesting zones
Date you checked Weekly updates move things

Share it in chat. In a small server, the player who knows the map becomes the one others follow, and following is how most players find their first dungeon.

How the event changes the map

The CRYSTALCOVE + HALLOWEEN event runs until November 2, 2026, and event builds often add a temporary zone, portal or decoration set. If you find a crystal-themed area that is not in your notes, that is the likely explanation — and it may disappear after the deadline.

Photograph or note anything that looks event-specific before November 2. The Halloween guide tracks the deadline, and the animals guide explains what to record about the creatures you meet there.

FAQ

How many maps are in Tame An Animal? The developer has not published a zone list. The world appears to be one connected map with walking, water and vertical layers rather than separate level select screens.

How do you get a ship? Unconfirmed. Ships are named in the official description, but the unlock path (quest, purchase, dock NPC) has not been published. Check the dock area first.

Can you fly? There is a Pegasus mount, and it is currently off sale. Whether other flying mounts exist is unverified.

Is there fast travel? A Teleport pass exists in the store, which suggests paid fast travel. A free fast-travel point may also exist; check the map menu.

Do mounts fight with you? Unknown, and the distinction matters. Some games let mounts attack, most do not. Test it on a weak animal before you rely on it.

Where should a new player go first? The spawn ring, then the coastline, then the first inland path. Do not buy a mount before you own a full team.
